Chana Masala

20 Minute Chana Masala Curry. Packed with protein and goodness, winning combo!

Serves: 4 Time: 20 minutes



Fresh Ingredients

  • 60g Spinach, plus extra, to serve

  • 100ml Natural yoghurt, to serve

  • 1 Lemon, cut into wedges

  • 1 Small Garlic Naan per person

Other Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil

  • 1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds

  • 1 Onion, thinly sliced

  • 3 Garlic Cloves, finely chopped

  • 1 Tablespoon Ginger, grated

  • 1 Tablespoon Garam Masala

  • 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric

  • 1/4 Teaspoon Chilli Powder

  • 400g Chopped Tomatoes

  • 2 x 400g Chickpeas, rinsed and drained


  1. Heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat.

  2. Add the mustard seeds and onion and cook gently for 4 minutes or until the onion is translucent. Next add the garlic and ginger, allow to cook for a minute then add garam masala, turmeric and chilli powder, stir and cook for a further min.

  3. Next, mix in the tomatoes and 125ml water. Cover with a lid and reduce the heat and allow to simmer for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, stir through the chickpeas and spinach.

  4. Once the chickpeas are warmed through and the spinach has wilted remove from the heat and season well.

  5. Serve with a spoon full of yogurt on top, lemon wedges, any leftover spinach you have and naan bread for dunking!
