20 Minute Fish Goujons and Chips. Love this fakeaway recipe for the freshest fish and chips, on the table in 20 minutes. Easy peasy!

Serves: 4 Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 450g White Fish fillets, try and get quite thick cuts (cod, haddock would be fine)

  • 400g Oven Chips (or make homemade using fresh potatoes)

  • 120g Flour

  • 2 Large Eggs

  • 240g Panko Breadcrumbs

  • 4 Large Gherkins (optional)

  • 3 Tablespoons Veg Oil, divided

  • Flat Leaf Parsley, chopped

  • Green Salad, of your choice

  • Lemon Wedges, to serve

Tartare Sauce

  • 2 Tablespoons Mayo

  • 1 Large Gherkin, finely diced

  • 2 Teaspoons Capers, finely chopped

  • Handful Parsley, chopped

  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice

Method

  1. Firstly throw your chips in the oven and cook per pack instructions. Next, cut your fish into long finger shapes, then pat down with kitchen roll to really dry them out.

  2. Find 3 shallow dishes. Put the flour in the first. Put the beaten eggs in the second, and the panko breadcrumbs in the third.

  3. Begin to dip the fish in the flour, then egg mixture, and finally in the breadcrumbs. Making sure it's coated well.

  4. Transfer the fish to a plate. Heat 3 tablespoons of veg oil in a large non-stick pan over a high heat. Fry the fish in batches, until nice and golden evenly on all sides, around 8-10 mins. Once ready, transfer the fish goujons to a plate with kitchen paper on, to absorb any excess oil.

  5. Meanwhile make your tartare sauce by combining all the ingredients together in the list.

  6. Serve the fish goujons with your oven chips, a parsley garnish, tartare sauce, gherkin, green salad and lemon wedges.
