We all have smart phones and have access to what's happening in the world literally 24/7. Gone are the days where we would spend more time in nature or read a book when we had 10 minutes to kill.
When you’re in a restaurant and your friend or partner goes to the toilet, do you instantly pick up your phone to scroll?
When did we start being unable to just sit and take in our surroundings. When did we become so glued to our phones that it's the first thing we grab when we are left alone for 5 minutes?
The majority of us sit on our phones scrolling aimlessly through our social media accounts. Checking out what people are doing, what they are wearing, what holiday they are on and who has the nicest houses or cars. Comparing literally EVERY aspect of our lives.
Since the rise in social media, body image has taken a MASSIVE nosedive. Not only for women, but men also. Even our children. Which for me is where I have to step in.
I can see and feel the effects it has had on me in such a short space of time and the thought of that being doubled if not tripled for our children is just frightening.
So to get some control back, take a look at the accounts that you follow. Ask yourself why? If these people don’t inspire you in the RIGHT way then my best advice for you is to GET RID!
It’s as simple as that, click the unfollow button. Replace those accounts with people that inspire you, artists, musicians, quote blogs, food blogs, healthy living blogs.
There are so many options that you could choose that will fill you with strength and inspiration. Not crush you and make you feel like anything less than amazing.
I would also do the same for your children’s accounts.
