Tuna Steaks

10 Minute Tuna Steaks. Ideal for date night or entertaining friends.

Serves: 4 Time: 10 minutes



  • 2 tablespoon olive oil

  • 4 tuna steaks, about 140g each


  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 200g pack trimmed green beans

  • 3 garlic cloves, finely sliced

  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce


  • ½ cucumber

  • 2 spring onions, finely chopped

  • 1 medium tomato, finely chopped

  • ½ large red chilli, seeded and finely chopped

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 2 tablespoon parsley, chopped

  • 1 tablespoon lime or lemon juice


  1. Put the 2 tablespoon of oil into a food bag and add the tuna steaks. Rub well together and leave for 30 mins while you make the relish.

  2. Peel the cucumber, halve lengthways and scoop out the seeds. Chop the flesh into a small dice. Mix with the rest of the ingredients, seasoning to taste. Set aside.

  3. To griddle the tuna steaks: heat the pan to hot, then cook the steaks, turning after 2 mins, and cooking for another 2 mins each side depending on the thickness of the steaks. Best served slightly ‘pink’.

  4. Remove the steaks from the heat allow to stand for 3-5 mins.

  5. Meanwhile cook the garlic green beans - heat the oil in a wok, then stir-fry the green beans for 5 mins until they start to brown. Add the garlic and continue to cook until just tinged brown, then splash in the soy sauce.

  6. Spoon the relish over the tuna and serve with the garlic green beans on the side.
