Are you stuck in a crash diet mindset?

Restrict, binge, restrict, binge... Are you stuck in a crash diet mindset?

It took me ages to get out of the fad, crash diet headspace. For years I was on this vicious cycle of restrict-binge-restrict-binge.

It was such an awful headspace to be in.

I knew I needed to lose weight for my health, but I was destroying my mental health in the process.

If I didn’t get results within a week, then I’d give up.

Or perhaps I was getting the results - but I couldn’t sustain the restrictions for a long period of time.

Which then lead to me gaining everything I had lost, plus more.

It would also trigger my eating disorder.

Which meant that my every waking thought was consumed by what I could or couldn’t eat that day.

It meant that I had to earn my food.

I would over-exercise.

I would feel guilty for what I ate.

If I ever had a low mood day (which was often) then I would eat everything in sight.

It was just impossible to feel good about myself and my body.

I envied people who could eat what they want and not worry about the ‘consequences’.

Does this resonate with you?

How I managed to build a better relationship with my body...

When I started focusing on other benefits and forgot about the weight loss, this really helped me build a better relationship with my body.

I promise you, you will stay more consistent and motivated if you have the goals of becoming fitter, healthier (and happier).

Rather than chasing a number on a scale.

Because ultimately - weighing a certain number is not an emotive goal. You’re not attached to it.

Whereas, being fitter so you can run around the park with your kids and take part in things...

Or being healthier so you can live longer or start IVF.

These are really emotive goals that you won’t want to give up on when the going gets tough (which it will).

I want you to focus on these goals instead of making weight loss your main focus.

I promise you, this will happen naturally on its own - from the healthy habits we build on, the yummy nutritious food we eat, and the fun, sweaty workouts we complete 4 times a week.

You'll be so much more consistent if you stop chasing the scale.

After all, it's only your head that’s getting in the way.
